Restricted competition for the design and construction management of a building to house the “casal” and the municipal media. Proposal.

The immediate surroundings of the building are houses of simple construction, with light-colored plastered facades and sloping tile roofs. The proposal, despite opting for more technologically efficient construction solutions, aims to maintain a coherent image with this environment, with a facade that combines smooth stone cladding, white stucco and sloping roof.

The plant is configured to provide protection against the dominant Mistral. The compact volumetric design is folded back to a large public outdoor space, protected but sunny.

This central exterior space extends inside the building, creating a double-height atrium, which visually and functionally communicates all the spaces. It also has an essential role as a thermal cushion, which allows to accumulate solar gains in winter and dissipate heat in summer allowing maximum ventilation.
