Restricted architectural design competition called by Infraestructuras for the conception, drafting of the executive project and subsequent construction management of the new Primary Care Center of La Palma de Cervelló, Baix Llobregat county. Proposal.

The program has to be solved in a plot of complicated geometry, basically a triangle and with a great difference in height between the surrounding streets that give access. We propose a building that is divided into two levels to adapt to the existing topography. The first floor, semi-underground, occupies practically the entire plot. We maintain the passage with exterior stairs at the east end, which border the existing residential building and generates a courtyard in the west open in the community activities room, at the end where the building is practically underground.

The section of the building is designed to generate a skylight to the north that crosses the two floors and illuminates the area of the underground first floor, which has no facade. The second floor has less surface area and is more separated from the residential building on the east side, which is attached to the exterior stairs. The part of the first floor roof at the level of Catalunya Avenue is developed as an open space.

The volumetry is clear and clean, clearly marking the access points. The adaptation to the irregular geometry of the plot generates some irregular spaces, but all the consultation rooms and offices have the required dimensions and proportions according to the program and the guidelines of the specifications. All the interior spaces have natural lighting, generating fluid, rich and luminous interior spaces, with crossed views and a double space between floors. Solar panels are integrated on the south side of the roof.

The environmental strategy for reducing the building’s energy consumption is based on reducing energy demand through compact geometry, increased thermal insulation, adjustable solar shading and highly efficient thermal conditioning systems.
