Renovation of a house in the center of Barcelona for a family of four people on the top floor of a residential building built in 1900 in the district of Gracia..

A previous renovation had eliminated woodwork, flooring and panneling. The wooden beams were the only remaining element of the original character.

La nova compartimentació es resol formalment com un moble de fusta que sense límit de continuïtat va conformant prestatgeries i espais de magatzematge, de la cuina i del passadís. Dins s’allotgen els espais dels dormitoris de les filles. Als extrems queden les peces més grans, la cuina-estar en una banda i el dormitori principal a l’altre. Tots els mobles es van realitzar a mida. La gamma reduïda de colors i materials buscar maximitzar la sensació d’amplitud i ordre al conjunt. Amb el mateix criteri es va triar per a tot l’habitatge el mateix paviment, un càlid i lluminós tapís continu de peces ceràmiques de mida petita, combinant la lluentor d’un blanc esmaltat i la rugositat de l’argila natural.

The new compartmentalization is conceptually resolved as a wooden furniture that without limit of continuity forms shelves and storage spaces, both in the kitchen and in the corridor. Inside are the bedrooms of the daughters. At the ends are the larger rooms, the kitchen-living room on one side and the master bedroom on the other. All the furniture was custom-made. The reduced range of colors and materials maximizes the feeling of spaciousness and order in the whole. With the same criteria, the same warm and luminous flooring was chosen for the whole house, a continuous tapestry of small ceramic pieces, which combines the brightness of the white glaze and the roughness of the natural clay.

El condicionament tèrmic s’aconsegueix amb radiadors d’aigua ajudats amb un climatitzador d’aire de conductes ocults dins d’un cel-ras. A l’estiu el climatitzador ajuda a suavitzar els cops de calor extrems, tot i que el confort del dia a dia es confia a uns ventiladors de sostre.
