Open competition called by Barcelona City Council for the execution of the executive project and construction management. Proposal.
Our proposal to recover the former Lealtad Santsenca cooperative building for the activities of the organizations of the Sants district prioritized placing the large multipurpose room on the first floor, in direct contact with the street and through the bar, which would act as an intermediate filter and a permanent meeting space. The upper floor of the bar allowed for the creation of a privileged space with a view over the hall and a terrace overlooking the street.
We believe that this arrangement simplified accessibility and facilitated evacuation in a high-rise building, with high occupancy and a low free perimeter of the façade. The closing of the building on Olzinelles street, behind the existing façade, allowed the appearance of a green terrace on the second floor, protected from traffic. On the roof, a large free space is freed up to allow activities for young people and children. At the same time it brings zenithal light to the multipurpose room. Preserving the facades, the proposal bet to renew all existing ceilings, thus freeing the maximum spaces of pillars and obstacles, and optimize the few square meters available.
