Complete renovation of a house for a two-member family in the center of the Gracia neighborhood in Barcelona. The organization of the floor plan is simple and clear. The hallway is eliminated and the living room is enlarged, incorporating an adjoining room. Natural light is brought into all the spaces. The bathroom is no exception, it has sun and natural ventilation, a warm atmosphere is sought and is cared for in detail.

The ceiling height is not constant. We play with the ceilings, the wooden beams appear and disappear according to the character of the spaces. The volume helps to juxtapose uses and rooms (living room respects kitchen, bedroom respects corridor) and allows to combine served spaces and server spaces to distribute the facilities.

A new natural wood flooring is laid, glued on the support, with a wide plank and abundant knots. In the kitchen and in the bathroom, small tiles are used, in hexagonal and trapezoidal format. In the bathroom, two of the walls are tiled with small, brightly colored tiles, which stand out against the rest of the kitchenware, which is completely white. A marble bench allows sitting next to the shower.

The fixed furniture, kitchen furniture, bathroom furniture and the bedroom headboard are custom-made, with light birch plywood. The balcony doors on the main facade are recovered, the wood is stripped and new insulating glass is installed. On the rear facade the aluminum windows are replaced by new wooden ones, trying to reproduce the shapes of the original ones.

The outdoor terrace will be a quiet corner full of plants, is protected from the views and direct sun with a traditional wooden shutter Alicante, which rests on the clothesline, also made to measure.

The materials are natural and warm (marble, mosaic, wood). Active air conditioning with hot water radiators is provided for thermal conditioning during cold periods. During the summer period, there is natural cross ventilation, reinforced by ceiling fans.
