Restricted competition for the design and construction management of a building with a kindergarten, family space and sports pavilion in Roger de Barcelona street. Proposal.

The dimensions of the plot do not make it possible to place the entire program of a PAV-2 on a single floor. Thus, it was decided that the play area would be on the second floor, under the roof of the building, the changing room area on the second floor and the general access on the first floor. The first floor lobby is essential for access, but it is disconnected from the locker room area, so a second lobby is needed on the second floor, with a control tile connected to the administration area.

An open and transparent south façade, facing the interior island garden on the ground and first floors. The facades of the street and the passage, more closed (for privacy and isolation) group the openings on the first floor, where we want to ensure permeability and transparency in access to the building.

The nursery, located on the ground and second floors, occupies the entire south façade to make the most of the sunlight through the classrooms and the multipurpose room and to ensure easy access to the garden and terraces. The classrooms are visually open to the corridor and incorporate the toilets and diaper changing area in a single space, with low partitions that allow communication between classrooms with sliding doors.

The building is organized with a support system of reinforced concrete portal frames with a constant span and precast concrete slab ceilings. Due to the large span of the roof of the sports hall, glulam beams and plywood panels are used. The façade enclosure system will be made of architectural concrete slabs. In the cantilevered sections, the facade slabs incorporate pieces of brick embedded in the mold. Smooth panels are used for the rest of the enclosures.

For the artificial air conditioning of the nursery and changing rooms, we propose a system of radiator-convectors powered by an aerothermal heat pump, combined with a ventilation system with heat recovery. For the sports area, we propose a ducted air conditioning system. For the DHW production we foresee a system of solar thermal collectors supported by an aerothermal heat pump to achieve with solar energy higher than 60% regulatory’s coverage .
